Pregnancy Diet Plan – During and After Maternity

To give your child the best start in life, it is very crucial for a mother to have a healthy pregnancy diet. It means that it should be a balanced diet that provides for your need and for the baby, as well. There should be sufficient amount of carbohydrates, vitamins, healthy fats, minerals and protein. Take note that nothings beats if you will get this nutrients from real sources rather than pre-natal multivitamins.
How do we know that your pregnancy diet plan is healthy in general? If even before you get pregnant you are already maintaining a healthy diet, it will not present a hard time adjusting in your case. You even just have to adjust the amount of nutrients so that you can ensure that boh your child and you will be as healthy as possible.
Experts say that mothers need to consume 300 calories which is more than the usual requirement for a person. It is not really much but never gave in to the temptation of overeating. You have to take your food in moderation so that your baby won’t also weight more than necessary. As for the Carbohydrates, it is important that take foods with complex carbohydrates in them. Do not believe when other people say that carbs will add more baby fats because there are foods items like beans, legumes and grains which do not contribute to such. Just make sure to avoid for white bread, white rice, sugar, potato chips, cookies and other sweeteners as much as possible though they have carbohydrates.
When it comes to proteins, it is absolutely essential to the cell development of your baby. Those moms who are at high-risk pregnancy are even advised by doctors to increase their protein intake as this will really help their case. Some popular sources of proteins are eggs, yogurt, turkey, pork, chicken, clams, shrimp and beef. You can include them in your pregnancy diet plan. Then there is also Fiber that has to be consumed by moms between 20 and 35 grams every day to regulate bowel movements. At the same time, this also prevents hemorrhiods.
The right pregnancy diet also means that you have to avoid foods not only because it is unhealthy but may cause some diseases, too. Raw meats, raw eggs, alcohol and processed foods are some. Basically, the right diet should be the same as regular diet only with some important factors added like you should be more conscious of the level of your blood insulin. If you have decided to breastfeed, it is best to always stick with the diet plan even after you give birth to help you keep in good shape.
